COLUMBIA ICEFIELDS EXPEDITION, 1924
In 1924, to commemorate his twentieth year of photographing the Canadian Rockies, Byron planned a ten week pack trip to film and photograph the country along the Continental Divide from Lake Louise north to the Columbia Icefield, across the Icefield itself, up the Athabasca River to it’s headwaters and Mt. Columbia, and on to Jasper. Having picked up supplies the return trip would be made via Maligne Lake over a series of high passes through early autumn snowfalls.
